hustle launchpadTension is who you want to become |
Hi Reader, I recently came across this Buddhist saying: "Relaxation is who you are. Tension is who want to become." This tension is exactly how it feels to be launching a new business, especially something you actually care deeply about. We might label it as self-doubt, imposter syndrome or pre-exam jitters - because becoming something new is scary. But if you see that tension as a sign of change in the direction of someone that you want to become, then suddenly that nervousness becomes your compass for growth. Tension can also be an indicator that we are tired of the comfort trap. It's a signal that we're weary of the monotony of doing the same thing day in and day out, merely for the sake of a paycheck. This tension is a sign that we crave more - more growth, more challenges, and more fulfillment. When we feel this itch, it's important to pause to listen to it. It's a sign that we're ready to embark on a new journey, ready to pursue our passions and dreams. Yet where we go on this journey is fraught with unknowns and risks - because becoming someone new is scary. Otherwise more people would be doing it instead of just waiting around wishing and hoping that they'd miraculously become successful, wealth, happy, have abs - you name it. The unfortunate truth is that many people eventually decide to let go of their dreams because it's too painful to sit with them without making progress. Every day is just another reminder of how long they've stalled until now. To effectively harness this tension instead of letting it overwhelm us, we can employ tools like mind maps to organize our thoughts and ideas. When we map our new ventures, we're in fact visualizing the journey, not just the ideal outcome. This is a step that many people often overlook, until reality hits them in the face - which it always does once we start taking action towards our dreams. 2-week sprints with concrete SMART goals (yes that's an acronym) to concentrate that energy into real productivity (as opposed to fruitless busy-ness). These short, focused bursts of activity can help us make significant progress towards our goals, while also providing opportunities for reflection and adjustment. With the right system, you could learn to lean into that tension, instead of avoiding it. The good news is that it's not rocket science. I've seen it done over and over again. If you've been feeling that tension and want to learn how to harness it into the rocket fuel that it is, then I invite you to book a breakthrough call with me in the next few days to map out where you are today and where you want to go. It'll be the best 45 minutes you'll spend clarifying your intentions and your next big (ad)venture - as anyone who's ever worked with me can attest to. |
