hustle launchpadThe Agony of Indecision |
Hi Reader, Let me know if this sounds familiar… A brilliant idea strikes you and you feel compelled to do something with it. Build a product around it, write a book on it and attract a following, start a coaching program around it, design a website and promote it. So you sit down to research your options. Jumping onto the Internet looking into the market and competitors gives you more intel and options, but also more noise to deal with. You may identify the right customers (the “who”), but don’t know whether to build a coaching program, online course, or consulting service (the “what”). Or you might know “how” you want to deliver your value, but can’t decide on the niche. At the end of the day, you end up with even less clarity than before - because you realize you can take your new venture a million different directions. Opportunity suddenly becomes chaos. Days, weeks, and even months go by stuck in this cycle of planning without real progress. Time and energy sunk in with no results to show for it. Eventually the excitement dies down and turns to frustration and overwhelm. Welcome to the agony of indecision. This is also part of the entrepreneurial journey - the chaos of ideas spinning through your head, each seemingly bursting with potential. Yet every time you try to settle on a direction, the doubts and options flood back in. Your manager and company isn’t around as guardrails to guide you because you’re the boss now. This is a true litmus test that culls the wanna-be’s from the real entrepreneurs. After all, a business is made up of a big collection of decisions, not just ideas. Get out of decision paralysisThe word “decide” comes from the Latin term decidere which literally means “to cut off”. So making decisions involves eliminating countless other possibilities before you. Life can be viewed as a mind map: your past decisions followed one linear path while ahead of you lies a massive tangle of different directions. Hence, the art and science of decision-making boils down choosing which action you’re going take next - because you can only take one path at a time. Breaking down and Mapping out these paths visually is a crucial first step. Seeing the big picture enables you to properly evaluate all the possibilities before strategically pruning them into a clear direction and immediate end goal. With the direction clear, you can then plan your actions towards that goal. Converting back and forth between expanding ideas and narrowing down choices is key. This dynamic of divergence and convergence transforms chaos in the ideas realm into creative productivity and outputs that ultimately brings your initial product to market. With the right system and tools, you’ll gain the clarity and confidence needed to decisively sprint down your chosen path, instead of always second guessing yourself or getting distracted by the noise around you.* If you’re ready to break out of decision paralysis, then I invite you to book a call with me in the next few days. It’ll be the best 45 minutes you’ll spend mapping out your next big (ad)venture and gaining some much needed clarity. Just ask anyone who’s ever worked with me. Alright, have a great week ahead Hustlers. Let’s get it 👊🏼. 🚀 *This is exactly what our Launchpad Hustlers are overcoming. We’re now into week 3 of the program and everyone has cleared the biggest hurdle that trips up most people starting a new business: who to target, what to sell them, and how to do it. They are all ready to graduate to the next step of blueprinting their initial offering with full confidence in their decision. This will be critical in the coming weeks as they begin “sprinting” towards launch. Both Peter Su and I turned away from cushy high 6-figure salary jobs to pursue our dreams of serving others through content. In this week's video I'll reveal the reason and decision making process behind my madness. 🙌 If you found this week's article helpful, be sure to forward it to a friend who could use the extra insight or kick in the pants to start their new passion hustle. |
